Lindfield Community Centre Refurbishment

Hutchinson Builders was engaged by Defence Housing Australia to undertake refurbishment works to the Lindfield Community Centre. The project incorporated the construction of new spaces and the removal and refurbishment of sections of the existing centre. Under the seven week D&C construction period, Hutchies delivered the various components of the centre including a new male bathroom, commercial kitchen, two storage rooms and a new roof solar panel system. The works also included extensive additions and reconfigurations to hallways, corridors and two multi-purpose rooms. A new timber-look flooring was selected to match the existing floor elsewhere, creating a sleek and unified look throughout the centre. All existing surfaces were given a revamp, refreshing and painting all installations including walls, floors, ceilings, doors, window blinds, skirtings, store rooms, and female and accessible bathrooms. 

Hutchies supplied and installed a range of new mechanical services including air conditioning and ventilation systems for the multi-purpose rooms, bathrooms and kitchen. We worked with stakeholders to develop a more cost effective cooling solution than the intended four independent split system units. The outcome was four ceiling cassette air conditioning systems, running off a single external condenser unit. This solution reduced outlay, but will also reduce operating costs for the life of the building.
