Residences

Mali is a 20-storey residential development in the heart of Mermaid Beach which was delivered via a design and construct delivery method along with our client, Dankav. Featuring 55 meticulously appointed 1, 3 and 3 bedroom residences, Mali's striking design presents a unique, luxurious and contemporary lifestyle which is reflected in the high quality of the finishes The kitchens and bathrooms have been designed and built with luxury and easy-living in mind. Mali features natural textures throughout, with a particular emphasis on green elements in a nod to its exceptional coastal location. Level 9 features a full level common area with an expansive northern outlook all the way up to North Stradbroke Island. This communal area features high 4.6m high ceilings and includes all the luxurious facilities expected of a high-end residential building including an impressive pool, gym, deck, BBQ, communal kitchen and large dining and entertaining space.

Mali's remarkable façade creates an eye catching yet functional feature of this building. Emulating the waves of the ocean and sand dunes, the undulating façade also works to funnel ocean breezes throughout the building which assists in naturally cooling and ventilating the apartments. Balconies feature attractive rounded edges. Mali's front façade features a large and dramatic green foliage wall surrounded by high feature walls clad in natural ivory travertine. This gives a grand and high-end look to the main entrance of the building and creates a dramatic yet harmonious Segway from the outdoors into the building. The many curves on the façade also provided challenges, as we were required to coordinate the manufacture of structural elements such as precast panels and coordinate the installation of scaffolding that worked around these curved elements.

A tight boundary to boundary site presented challenges with space for storing materials. This meant that most items needed to be brought in as required and required us to manage deliveries whilst minimising impact on local residents. The site was also located directly across the road from the Broadbeach State School, which presented additional restrictions from Gold Coast City Council with regard to traffic permits and road closures. With the site being boundary to boundary it was a necessity for Hutchies to utilise the large portions of the road in front of the site to accommodate deliveries and construction activities such as concrete pours.
