Lion Milk Distribution Centre

Lion Dairy & Drinks selected Hutchies to expand its distribution capabilities in Townsville with a brand new 5000m² multi-use cold-storage facility and associated facilities. 

The project’s requirement was to design and construct a new facility to warehouse and distribute milk, dairy products, cheese and fruit juice in a temperature controlled environment and to warehouse and distribute dry goods and ambient product in an ambient warehouse.

Hutchies worked in collaboration with the client, consultants and subcontractors to deliver new site access, amenities, office space, docks, pavement, cool room space, empty crate storage, internal truck washing and car parking required by the operation. There was provision in the design to ensure future expansion possibilities of the cold room and ambient store footprint when required by Lion. This complex construction project had significant building services engineering and design requirements, coordination of plant and equipment, and managing local authority expectations as part of the development approval.
