This 1,100m² luxury residence was constructed from reinforced concrete with pebbled roof and extensive use of glass and timber battening. A Kerry Hill Architect design, the house was the first of 21 villas to be developed on Hayman Island and owned freehold by the public.
The highest level of build and design quality was achieved as a result of an intense design management phase prior to construction, and strict quality control on site. The logistical challenges of working on an island were met with the programme being ahead of schedule.
Constructed through three cyclones as well as a long period of unseasonal rain delays, Hutchinson Builders faced an enormous task to deliver the beachfront villa to the quality expectations of the discerning Client and architect.
Hutchinson Builders worked tirelessly and without compromise to complete the villa to an outstanding level of finish.
The site was located in the middle of a resort, which remained fully operational throughout construction. Site access was via the beach which required closed monitoring of tidal movements, and the beach had to be reinforced to prevent heavy vehicles from sinking into the sand.
